mump2p Operates Signal for Validator Nodes
Metal · Chief of Staff · 20 Oct 2026
The protocol distinguishes between its Signal service for receiving data and its Accelerate service for sending blocks, each serving different operator needs.
The Ethereum block propagation protocol, released on Oct. 20, 2026, went live on mainnet with Signal and Accelerate services for validator operators. mump2p carried beacon block data across the network to connected validator nodes. Per the company blog, the release made the protocol available for any validator operator to run.
Protocol Basics
mump2p functions as an Ethereum block propagation protocol. It was released on Oct. 20, 2026. The release allowed validator operators to connect their nodes and receive beacon block data through the system. The protocol focuses on carrying this data across the network to those connected nodes.
Service Details
Signal was built for receiving beacon block data and stood open to all Ethereum validator operators. Accelerate was built for sending proposed blocks to other validators. Larger operators accessed Accelerate through self-serve onboarding. Operators signed up through a web console. That console combined self-serve setup, monitoring and admin tools in one place.
Dashboard and Monitoring
A public dashboard displayed performance data. The data came aggregated from the nodes running mump2p. Operators could review this information after connecting their nodes through the web console.
Technical Approach
The protocol used Random Linear Network Coding. This erasure code allowed the system to shard, encode and decode block data. Nodes known as Flexnodes forwarded coded shards across a global mesh. These Flexnodes also generated additional shards as part of the process.
Operator Access
Any validator operator could run mump2p after the mainnet release. The web console supported self-serve setup for those who joined. Monitoring tools within the console helped track node activity. Admin tools completed the set of features available through the same interface.
Data Display
The public dashboard presented aggregated performance data. This view drew from nodes already running the protocol. Operators gained access to this display after completing signup through the web console.
Network Coding Elements
Random Linear Network Coding formed the core method for handling block data. The approach shards data before encoding it for transfer. Decoding happens at the receiving nodes. Flexnodes play a role in moving these coded shards forward through the mesh network while creating more shards where needed.
The release on Oct. 20, 2026 marked the point when these elements became operational on Ethereum mainnet. Signal remained open to every validator operator. Accelerate followed its own path through self-serve onboarding for larger operators. The web console and public dashboard supported the overall setup for those who connected.
